A DREAM

Only about one-third of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) engage in any kind of sports on a regular basis, mainly due to the lack of access and opportunities for participation.

Fulfil the role of Santa by building tandem bicycles and gifting them to social service organisations so PWDs can stay active and improve their gross mobility skills like balancing and hand eye coordination. If time permits, you could even teach them how to ride those bicycles!

Communicate

For the ones who favour the experiential learning approach and want to build their empathy capacity

Society Staples blind world icon

BLIND WORLD

If anyone could show us the relations between concise communication, trust and anticipation of the needs of others for good team cooperation, it would be the visually impaired community.

Undergo a series of disability simulations with the engagement of only four of your senses. Through the unique life experiences of the visually impaired  community, draw parallels to how these experiences can help you in your everyday lives and at your workplace.

DEAF WORLD

The occurrences of miscommunications are inevitable but it can definitely be reduced. Strengthen your interpersonal skills and communicate better with others by drawing insights from the Deaf through simulations that teach you how to listen to the intent and not just the words.

Pick up the basics of sign language too because you cannot understand the Deaf without learning their unique communication method.

Testimonials

Society Staples - NUS logo

“The team enjoyed the afternoon learning basic sign language and also better understood the difficulties the hearing impaired and visually impaired face on a day to day basis through the several exercises. Many of the feedback from the staff is that they would do it again. If any of my friends who are looking for a fuss free and meaningful team building event, I would surely point them to Society Staples.”

“Kuddos to you guys on being so inspiring in building a cause that you believe in! I hope you will bring the message to as many people as possible so that our society can be more inclusive in future. For me, personally, I learn more on Persons with Diability and it is very heart- warming to see a group of young people so passionate and dedicated to the cause of building a more inclusive society.”

Society Staples - TOUCH logo

“TOUCH Caregivers Support engaged Society Staples for our team bonding time and was treated to a suite of customised activities that were immensely enjoyable and catered to our objectives. Besides the fun we had with Dragon Boating and a “Blind Experience”, what struck us about our engagement with Society Staples was their professionalism and knowledge. Having done their homework, and coupled with innovative delivery, they helped us draw insights from these activities, and link them to our field of work, adding to the value of our learning. What a great way to broaden our horizons and enjoy ourselves at the same time!”

“We engaged Society Staples in recognition that they are a fantastic social enterprise doing great work in fostering inclusion for People with Disabilities, and we wanted to support their cause. Our high expectations of them were fully met. The end-to-end organisation and coordination was efficient, and their innovative dragon-boating activity was
really an eye-opener for the participants! It was not only a fun team-building activity, but it also helped everyone build empathy and understand the daily challenges of People with Disabilities at a deeper and personal level. ”

“Working with Society Staples has been pleasant and fulfilling – it was inspiring to see our participants and workshop facilitators coming so closely together for a
session of sharing and learning. This workshop helped to break the ice between our participants who joined our event as strangers but left as friends. For student or professional teams looking for a time of engagement and learning for a compelling cause, Debra, Ryan and the Society Staples team are the people to go to. For those thinking whether to partner with Society Staples, I suggest for you to at least try a small session with them – their passion and energy will make you a convert.”
